Thank You!!! This book is for you...

Dear Friends and Family:

I am very excited to report that my book is published!! All the hard work has paid off as I was able to see the first images launch from concepts in my mind, to design supported by amazing computer technology, all the way to the printing process on the giant Web Press down at Hudson. There were late nights, multiple drafts, and a great support network. I now get excited to think that this is actually in print and it has the potential to help women recognize their own worth and purpose.

As I reflect on the final product there are many people I wanted to thank…
It all started with my parents (and family). I would not have the knowledge, the passion, or the character to do something like this without them spending years devoted to my upbringing. I guess the noogies from Kevin and the sneaky journal reading from Janeal also helped build my character so thanks guys! And then of course I have all my in-laws to thank for their support and their goodness in teaching Cory. This book would still be a sketch on the back of the shelves if it were not for Cory believing in me and flat out telling me I can do things. You’ve always helped me be a better person Cory and I love you forever.

I need to thank the Cauliflower Retreat Board of Directors, our partners, the mentors, and the girls who have gotten involved in the self esteem programs. You have each given me glimpses for the content of this book. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to the “worth and purpose” cause. And I am joyful to report it has only just begun…

I also think about my BEHS cheerleaders who showed me strength, hard work, leadership, and reminded me about the big issues girls face. (and you taught me how we can all better deal with “drama” and “roller coasters”J) I will always call you my kids even though I see you going to college, making a difference in your adult lives and getting married. You each have a special place in my heart and hope if you ever need anything you will let me know.

Now, I had no prior book experience and I offer deep gratitude for my mentor Lori for taking time out of her busy schedule to teach me about the publishing process-you are truly a talented person. Then we have Michelle P, who I look up to, and who took time to help in the editing process. If anyone still sees grammatical errors in it, I take full responsibility due to my last minute changes. Thank you Chelsey C who took some time to share her art and computer skills (and pinpoint my girls legs were cut off on page 32) Thank you Mary for letting me interview you on your life experiences. And of course all my good friend who listened to me spout off thoughts and the girls who let me do “market research” with their opinions. Finally, I offer deep gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the inspiration… I could not have done this on my own.

I invite you all to celebrate with me!!! Again, I offer deep gratitude to you all for your support, example and friendship!
-Karen
